
The Piedmont serves North Carolina with a Raleigh-Charlotte and return daily run. The equipment is owned by the North Carolina Department of Transportation and runs with Amtrak symbols 73 and 74. Engines are numbered after significant years in NC history including 1755, 1768, 1792 and 1797. They are also named after the city founded in that year. The rolling stock are named after state symbols.
